Nouvelle Orléans, Etats-Unis
Trip-Hop
Started making music in 2001, but have been surrounded by music since a small baby. Father plays in a New Orleans Jazz/Blues bands and tried to make him a multi-instrumentalist like him. He lost track and interest in his instruments when he moved from New Orleans to the Twin Cities area in Minnesota in the summer of 1994 after visiting in the summer of 1993. Video games took over his interests in music from 2nd to 9th grade when he discovered hip hop from the 90s that he knew of, but didnt fully pay attention to. While listening, he investigated in the art of beatmaking by using software that he still uses to this day. His sophmore year in high school, he met a friend that introduced him to various underground/indie/progressive hip hop acts like Company Flow, Quasimoto, Da Grassroots, Blackalicious and such. The rest of the time in high school, Quey explored more into hip-hop and electronica, and he decided to create what he listened but in his own style and sound by sampling, playing keys and using experimental sound capturing techniques. Because of his different styles and genres, he feels that music is his sole purpose on earth to tickle the auditary nerve. [Note: His name is pronounced as 'Cat-tra Kay', similar to 'que' ('what' in spanish). Not 'Cat-tra Queue'.]
